Event Information


WalkWest starts and ends at Footscray Park Maribyrnong, with participants walking or running along the picturesque Maribyrnong RIver.


WalkWest 2019 was held on Sunday 24 March. Details for WalkWest 2020 will be updated in the coming months.

Registration Categories

Participants in WalkWest can choose to walk the 2km course or walk/run the 5km or 10km course. WalkWest is open to people of all ages and abilities.

Event Times

WalkWest officially kicks off at 8am on event day. Timings of individual events will be advised closer to event day.

Activities & Entertainment

The WalkWest Village at Footscray Park is our central hub of fun activities and entertainment for the whole family including:

  • Aerobics warm-up

  • Kids activities including jumping castle, face painting and games

  • Dance and cultural performances

  • Live music

  • Food and refreshments

  • Massage zone

  • Sporting workshops

  • Novelty entertainers

Amenities & Food

A water station is located in the WalkWest Village and water stations are located en-route.

Toilets are located within the WalkWest Village, including those with disabled access.

The event is wheelchair accessible with a bitumen path along the entire route.

Dogs are permitted in Footscray Park and along the Maribyrnong River provided they are restrained on a lead at all times.


Parking is available at the following locations:

  • Maribyrnong Boulevard (off Farnsworth Avenue)

  • Henry Turner South Reserve car park (off Farnsworth Avenue)

  • Burndap Park car park (off Farnsworth Avenue)

  • Victoria University car park (off Ballarat Road)

Cancellation Policy

In the event that the event is cancelled, registration fees will not be refunded. All reasonable effort will be made to reschedule the event to a suitable day.
