How It Works

How it works

Starting 9 November, travel 42km in 21 days and fundraise along the way for Western Health.

We’ve created a landmarks map so you can visualise the 42km course within Melbourne’s west. You do not need to do this actual course as we’ll take you to each landmark, virtually.

Once you log a certain distance you’ll be rewarded a landmark badge. Collect all five badges once you’ve completed your 42km.

The landmarks

  1. Flemington Racecourse - start
  2. Whitten Oval - 3km logged
  3. The Sun Theatre - 6km logged
  4. Williamstown Beach - 13km logged
  5. Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club - 29km logged
  6. Werribee Zoo - 42km finshed.

Our landmarks can also be viewed on our WalkWest Virtual Landmarks map here.

Sign up for the Western Health Virtual Landmark Challenge here, it’s easy to do and it’s FREE. Join a team or create your own to walk and support best care for patients in the west.

You can create a team or join a pre-existing one, when or after you register. There’s no limit to team numbers. The kilometre target of 42km will remain individual but your fundraising efforts will be accrued as a team if you are a member.

Begin fundraising

Once registered, you will be set up with your own user dashboard and a fundraising page (if you’re walking with a team, you’ll also have a team fundraising page). Take some time to add a profile picture and personalise your fundraising page. You can also edit your fundraising goal at any time.

Begin sharing your fundraising page with your personal networks and on your social media channels.

Your fundraising dashboard will light up with achievement badges as you reach the following milestones:

Raise $50

Receive a WalkWest 2022 medal delivered to your door.

Raise $250

Receive an exclusive “I did WalkWest 2022” t-shirt.

Raise $500

Start walking

From 9 November you can start walking and logging your kilometres manually via your user dashboard or after syncing to STRAVA, Fitbit or MapMyFitness App (see ‘Log your KMs’ page).

Share your activity and participation in WalkWest Virtual Landmarks Challenge with your networks and on social media by using #walkwest.

Don’t forget to join in the conversation with fellow WalkWest participants via our private WalkWest Facebook group.

Note, any kilometres logged prior to 9 November will reset to zero once the event commences so everyone starts the challenge together.
