Fundraising FAQ

Why do I need to fundraise?

Your registration fee for WalkWest covers the cost of staging the event. We encourage all participants to fundraise to help raise funds to deliver improved health outcomes for the people of Melbourne’s west. 

If every participant at WalkWest raises a minimum of $100 we can achieve our fundraising target of $100,000.

Do I need to raise a certain amount?

You don’t need to raise a certain amount in order to participate in WalkWest, however we do ask that you try and make fundraising a part of the event and encourage those participating with you to also fundraise. 

We have set a nominal fundraising goal of $250 per person, however you can set your goal to whatever you want.

The more funds you raise, the more will be directed towards improving patient care at Western Health.

Prizes will be awarded to top fundraising individual and top fundraising team.

How do I create a fundraising page?

While registering to participate in WalkWest you will also set up your fundraising page. After registering, we encourage you to share your page with your family, friends and work colleagues.

How do I fundraise?

You can fundraise by asking your family, friends and work colleagues to donate to your fundraising page. Share your fundraising page via email or on social media.

Will people who donate get a tax-deductible receipt?

Supporters who donate to your fundraising page will be emailed a tax receipt instantly at the time of donation. If you have any queries regarding receipts, please email foundation@wh.org.au.

Where does the money go?

The money you raise through your WalkWest fundraising page will contribute to delivering improved healthcare outcomes for the people of Melbourne’s west.

Donations support the delivery of best care through developing new program and services, facilitating clinical research, securing the latest equipment and further enhancing our facilities.

Do I have to fundraise?

It’s not compulsory to fundraise, however on registration you will be automatically set up with a fundraising page. We strongly encourage all participants to fundraise to support best care at Western Health.

What do I get for fundraising?

Beside the satisfaction of knowing that you are contributing to the delivery of improved health outcomes for the people of Melbourne’s west, your fundraising efforts will be acknowledged as follows:

  • Raise $30 and receive a free WalkWest 2020 t-shirt
  • Raise $250 for a double movies pass
  • Raise $500 for exclusive entry to the WalkWest VIP Marquee

Prizes will also be awarded to the Top Individual and Top Team fundraisers.
